Spidey and the bus

This might be the widest bus tale that I have ever shared. This evening, I decided to stop at this little plaza for Asian takeout for dinner. Two stops away the bus slowed to let a couple passengers off. There was a man of 50 years or more on the other side of the street waving towards the bus. He wore a red track suit I believe. I saw him as did other passengers who alerted the driver. The man hurried against oncoming traffic to board the bus, or so we thought...

When the man reached the front of the bus, he threw himself onto the windshield much like Spider-man. The driver and the rest of the bus were in shock!

The driver demanded, What are you doing? She immediately called her superiors (Probably God too). I couldn't hear what she was saying and just stared at the man in disbelief. She again asked what he was doing and told him to get down. "Today," she asked in disbelief? He would not. It was clear to me that he was trying to force the driver to move the bus forward, even an inch, so he could enact his plan of falling off onto the ground. Can somebody say "Law Suit?"

It seemed like an eternity as the man defiantly clung to the bus windshield. There was a muffled exchange between the drive and Spidey. She asked him what he wanted? He wanted to get on the bus, he told her. He jumped to the ground and around to the open doors of the bus. Just as he reached the bus, the driver closed the doors in his face. Laughter ensued about the bus. The man quickly returned to the windshield until the driver agreed to allow him on the bus. She agree.

I've never been a bus driver, nor have I played one on TV, but in my mind I questioned why this crazy man was allowed to board the bus. Weren't we all being placed in jeopardy? I couldn't understand why she didn't just leave him out there and allow the police to handle it? He may have been psychotic and or armed??

He boarded cussing'... "All y'all can shut the f**k up! Two teen girls looked at him. He directed his outrage to them. "I know y'all already done posted this to Facebook and Instagram! Ain't dat what y'all do?" The girls denied having posted anything. The man looked towards the other passenger and said, "Y'all ain't got nothin' to say about what happened here, y'all shut the f**k up!" No one had said anything to the man.

It was at this point that it was clear to me that it is much better to live as a Beta than to die badly as an Alpha. I quickly pushed past the man and got off the bus. I'll probably have the Sesame Chicken tomorrow.

It Happens...

An interesting tale from yesterday afternoon...

As I walked toward the bus stop at Marshall and Crouse, I had what those in the business call, "A Senior Moment." For about three or four seconds I completely spaced on whether it was Tuesday or Wednesday. It happens.

A young woman approached. She had long blonde hair, probably a sorority girl, and most likely believes that her "special-ness" is gospel. I immediately apologized for stopping her, then asked if it was indeed Tuesday or Wednesday. The look on her face expressed contempt and disgust while trying to maintain some weird air of toughness.

She then took out her phone and pretended to be searching for the day when she actually was taking my picture a few times. She finally shared that it was Wednesday, I thanked her and was on my way. I could feel her eyes upon me long after we parted.

Just as I reached the bus stop, she passed me on the right with an expression as if she were whistling past the grave yard. I thought nothing of it at the time. She continued across the street and into the smoothie shop. About ten minutes later, a short brunette exited the smoothie shop and walked closely past me on the right. She had an inquisitive smile while staring directly into my eyes. I smiled and then her expression changed to a nice smile.

My takeaways:
1. It's both hard and annoying being the boogie man
2. If you think that all black men are the boogie man, it's because you've made that up!
3. Imagine spending 80 grand to send your child off to university that stupid, misguided, and probably racist?
4. I thought that this new generation was about moving forward?
